Private DA
Private DA is a private data availability configuration for Conduit chains that need tighter control over who can access their DA data.
It builds on Conduit DA and adds confidentiality controls for workloads with privacy, compliance, or operational requirements.
With Private DA, you get:
- Encrypted storage for DA data
- HSM-held keys to protect encryption keys
- Gated access to stored data
- Managed operations alongside the rest of your Conduit chain infrastructure
When to use Private DA
Use Private DA when the underlying rollup data should not be publicly accessible.
Common examples include applications that handle sensitive business data, regulated workflows, or other workloads where access to DA data needs to be restricted to authorized users or systems.
If your application does not require restricted access, use Conduit DA instead.
How Private DA works
Private DA uses the same managed DA infrastructure model as Conduit DA, while adding encryption and access controls around the underlying data.
Encryption keys are protected using hardware security modules (HSMs), and access to stored data is restricted according to the chain’s configured access controls.
Retrieval and access
Unlike public Conduit DA, Private DA does not make the underlying DA data broadly accessible.
Retrieval is access-controlled, so only authorized users or systems can access the stored data. The exact access and retrieval flow depends on the chain configuration.
Contact Conduit if you need to integrate directly with the Private DA retrieval path or configure access for external infrastructure.
Get started
To enable Private DA, reach out to the Conduit team with your chain, stack, expected throughput, and access requirements.
We can help confirm the appropriate configuration and any changes required for your existing chain infrastructure.
FAQ
What is the difference between Conduit DA and Private DA?
Conduit DA provides managed data availability with scalable storage and independently verifiable public data. Private DA adds encryption, HSM-held keys, and gated access for workloads where the underlying DA data should not be publicly accessible.
Is Private DA data publicly accessible?
No. Access to the underlying DA data is restricted according to the chain’s configured access controls.
Does Private DA use the same infrastructure as Conduit DA?
Private DA builds on Conduit DA’s managed infrastructure model and adds encryption and access controls for the underlying data.
On what stack can I enable Private DA?
Conduit DA is available on OP and Agglayer CDK stack.
Is it possible to change my current DA from existing chain to either Conduit DA/Private DA?
Yes, any OP/CDK chain from any DA can be migrated to Conduit/PrivateDA.
