Conduit DA

Conduit DA is a managed data availability (DA) layer for chains running on Conduit. It is designed for teams that need DA capacity to scale with chain throughput without managing a separate DA stack or taking on direct blob-market cost volatility.

With Conduit DA, you get:

  • Predictable costs - Reduce exposure to changing blob-market pricing.
  • Elastic throughput - Scale DA capacity with your chain using cloud object storage.
  • Public verification - Keep public DA data independently verifiable.
  • Integrated operations - Run your chain and DA infrastructure together with Conduit.

For more background on why we built Conduit DA, read Introducing Conduit DA.

If your application requires restricted access to DA data, see Private DA.

How Conduit DA works

Data availability and settlement are separate parts of a rollup. Your settlement layer is responsible for finalizing the rollup, while the DA layer makes the underlying rollup data available when it needs to be retrieved or verified.

When a chain uses Conduit DA, Conduit manages the DA path alongside the rest of the chain infrastructure. Rollup data is stored using cloud object storage and remains available for retrieval and verification without requiring the chain team to operate a separate DA deployment.

This lets DA capacity scale independently from the settlement layer and keeps DA operations within the same managed infrastructure as the rest of your Conduit chain.

Verification and retrieval

Conduit DA is designed so that public DA data can be independently retrieved and verified rather than requiring users to trust the storage layer itself.

The exact retrieval and verification flow depends on the chain configuration. Contact Conduit if you need direct access to DA data or are building infrastructure that needs to verify it independently.

To enable Conduit DA, reach out to the Conduit team with your chain, stack, and expected throughput.

We can help confirm the appropriate DA configuration and any changes required for your existing chain infrastructure.

FAQ

What is the difference between Conduit DA and Private DA?

Conduit DA provides managed data availability with scalable storage and independently verifiable public data. Private DA adds encryption, HSM-held keys, and gated access for workloads where the underlying DA data should not be publicly accessible.

Does Conduit DA use Ethereum blobs?

Conduit DA provides a DA path designed to avoid direct exposure to blob-market pricing. Your chain can still use Ethereum or another parent chain for settlement separately from its DA configuration.

Can Conduit DA data be independently verified?

Yes. Public Conduit DA data is designed to be independently verifiable.

On what stack can I enable Conduit DA?

Conduit DA is available on OP and Agglayer CDK stack.

Is it possible to change my current DA from existing chain to either Conduit DA/Private DA?

Yes, any OP/CDK chain from any DA can be migrated to Conduit/PrivateDA.
